ksvedati: alpha- Shape Memory- Nyctivoe II
Ismene’s busy 2024 commissioning schedule included a 30 minute long cycle of works for the duo. Inspired by Greg Evans’ creative preparation setup of ksvedati: alpha, Ismene tasked Emma Tucker with writing Shape Memory to transition between Greg’s heavily prepared work and their new unprepared duo Nyctivoe II.

2023 Call for Scores: Lavender Among Thorns
In conjunction with the call for scores prize, the AMC was able to crowdfund a commission from Nicolas Bizub for a fifteen minute long work for Ismene called Lavender Among Thorns. The work was premiered in late 2024 alongside several other world premieres by fellow University of Cincinnati Grads Brian Nabors and Gregory Evans.
Our inaugural call for scores was a call for artists to submit their own works in response to “Lavender Among Thorns,” a poem written by AQP awardee Nicolas Bizub. The call for scores opened in the Fall of 2022 and closed on 2/28/2023. In this short time frame, Antigone Commissioning received over 40 submissions from composers ranging from amateurs to award-winning professionals around the world.
Of these submissions, Ethan Soledad’s new string quartet “Lavender Among Thorns” was selected to be performed on WGUC’s music Monday program to promote Antigone’s flagship project, the Antigone Quartet Prize. You can hear our radio performance of the new work below.
